The Urban Ministries guide contains information to assist with projects in Luther E. Smith's Contextual Education course, as well as how to find information about communities you may encounter in the practice of ministry.

This guide provides information on finding both references to literature and data about poverty and homelessness in particuar communities, using resources such as

• catalogs and databases at Emory
• media sources
• reliable sources on the Internet

Library resources are cataloged using specific subject heading words

• Using this vocabulary enhances searching

discoverE strategies:

1. Sign in with your Net ID & PW. This will enable you to save searches and items on your e-shelf.
2. Use advanced search with synonyms keywords for your topic on one line (or even better the correct subject term) and a genre term as a keyword on line two.
3. Use Key words to describe the genre such as oral history, interview, biography, diary, or case studies are helpful, depending on what you seek.
