About

This guide provides introductory resources for the study of Christian ethics, including reference works, books, and journals.

Finding Articles for Christian Ethics

  • ATLA Religion Database
Search phrases like "christian ethics", "moral theology", "ethics" and combinations for specific areas of interest.
  • ISI Web of Knowledge
Indexes a broader range of ethics journals than a religion database. Use it for areas of interest, like business, environmental ethics, and bioethics.
  • Catholic Periodical Literature Index Online
Provides access to a set of Catholic resources not indexed in ATLA Religion database.

Ethics Journals

For more journals focused on ethics, search DiscoverE with the phrase "ethics" and limit results to journals.  A range of options unfolds, including journals in biomedical ethics, business ethics, government ethics, legal and criminal justice ethics, mass media ethics, science and engineering ethics, social science ethics, and more.

  • Studies in Christian Ethics
Published in conjunction with the Society for the Study of Christian Ethics in the UK, the journal focuses on an array of issues related to moral theology and Christian ethics. The first volume each year presents material from the Society's annual conference.
  • Journal of the Society of Christian Ethics
